Reading Major Punts stats really gives one food for thought. Carlisle, seemingly persistant under-achievers since their fall from the Second Division a few seasons ago are doing well. With the arrival of Roddy Collins, The Cumbrians have hoisted themselves out of the relegation mire, into a more respectable position of merely peering over their shoulder at it. In their last 6 games Carlisle have accrued 11 pts, and have lost only once. The Imps mean while have won only two, and lost the rest, attaining only 6pts. This game promises to be the archetypal scrap of the season. Imps fans will doubtless be happy with a point from this encounter (as they would have been against Luton, until Alan Marriott's abhorration). One thing is for certain though, both sides are desperate for the points and this will prove to be either a basement free for all, or an energetic end-to-end match full of incident. I don't mind which, as long as City take the three points!!!
All sides at the wrong end of the division will be watching with great interest, the scrap that will be happening between Leyton Orient and Halifax. Failure for Halifax will all but condemn them to Conference football next season, but a win will put them within striking distance of Orient, who have slipped catastrophically since their 5-0 defeat of the Imps in December.
