It’s Accrington Stanley this Sincil Super Saturday with the Imps eager to overtake a side one point and one place above us. Though it may not have that gilt edged Premiership ring to it this will be a stormer with blood guts, gore Gornell, Grimes and goals to boot. It is a game set up for the magic of Mustapha Carayol and McCallum on the wings for us and 5 potential match winners for Accy.
Accrington certainly beat a very different City team, somewhat comprehensively at 3-0, earlier in the season. But then they are a side that can never be accused of lacking bottle and one John Coleman ensures gets in your face from the off.
To The Teams & Schemes then
The Mighty Imps
The Imps see just the anticipated change down the right, with Kelly continuing for Hoyte and the magical Mustapha starting on the wing in place of Howells. He and Ali Fuseini give the Imps midfield more magic, nay potential for sorcery, than an episode of the Arabian Knights.

Accrington Stanley 4-4-2
John Coleman will stick with pretty much the same side that has won three on the bounce. McConville came on an hour into the Torquay win in place of Bennett and he will start. Kelly will also have to watch Ryan or Joyce as they switch flanks, although Barnett could also start in place of Joyce on the left. On-loan Burnley centre-back Kevin Long is fit again and could also get the nod.
Boulding’s brother Rory is suspended for 3 games after seeing red in the reserves and right-back Leam Richardson misses out with a groin strain.

History of the City v Accrington fixture
History yes, but we have a good record against Stanley with 18 wins from 26 matches. We have had some big wins over them in what seem to be the ever fading distance, winning 9-1 in the days of yore and 5-1 not so long ago when the cry went up for 4-4-2. However last season we had to come from behind to triumph 2-1 at the death.
Grant fired Stanley ahead on 30 minutes as the visitors dominated much of the game. Keeper Rob Burch would keep us in it with some magnificent stops until Steven Lennon slotted home on 83 minutes. Anderson’s overhit 91st minute cross was headed back in by Pearce and Kempson, now at Grimsby, deflected home for an own goal winner. Scarcely deserved but they do say fortune favours the brave. 2,779 saw the Tuesday affair with 110 visitors

Recent respective form guides
The Imps home form has been getting better, but the words shocking, Jekyll and Hyde are as apt as a 12A classification. We have lost 3 of 6, scored 8 and conceded 10. Actually two were own goals on our part but we will take what little luck has come our way this season. What a shame we cannot reproduce the form we show away from the Theatre of the Absurd. Accrington have won their last three and sit one point and one place above us with two games in hand.
