He said: "If we can win at home tomorrow then that will be great, but I'll be happy as long as we go into the game at their place still in with a chance.
"The fact that it's also a derby as well as a play-off semi-final doesn't matter too much, but I don't think you can divorce the two.
"It'll be physical, fast and furious. I think Scunthorpe will start the game as favourites and that won't bother us one little bit."
Alexander will pick from a full strength side, with chris Cornelly returning from suspension and Ben Futhcer and Alan Marriott expected to shake off knocks.
