McCall confirmed his interest in Macclesfield Town striker cum Imps target Gareth Evans but admitted finance could prove a stumbling block in taking the 21-year-old to Valley Parade.
"We've made an inquiry but at the moment nothing will be happening because of the fee Macclesfield are after," he said.
This echoes the troubles City admitted to last week when they to encountered an over elaborate evaluation of Evans from Macc boss Keith Alexander. However with Evan's being 21 and a free agent any future transfer would be decided by tribunal anyway.
