The first team to declare their interest was Rotherham Utd. On May 28th Millers assistant manager John Breckin confirmed that he wanted to sign the former Grimsby and Barnsley player.
"We spoke to him and we expect a decision shortly."
He added: "We face a lot of competition for that one though, when you score the number of goals he has and he has several irons in the fire.
"Boulding is the kind of striker we are looking to bring in but it won't just be him, we would like to sign another one as well."
By May 30th City had officially entered the race. Iffy Onuora confirmed at a clubs EGM that Boulding was on the Imps radar, and earlier this month Peter Jackson added he would be hoping to use his personal connections with the player to lure him to Sincil Bank.
The third team to enter the race are our county rivals and Bouldings old side Grimsby Town. The Codheads have today confirmed they will be speaking to Boulding about a possible move into mid table obscurity with them next season.
However Rotherham have today signed Mark Burchill from Dunfermiline, a talented striker with real pedigree, which may mean their limited finacial clout restricts a move for Michael Boulding as well.
