Lincoln have been involved in the chase for Boulding for a couple of months now, with rumours circulating before the end of the season that he'd be an Imp in 2008/09. However it now appears that he is set to shun The Imps, as well as Grimsby, Bradford and Rotherham in favour of a deal in League One, possibly with Scunthorpe Utd.
Peter Jackson told the Lincolnshire Echo that the deal had hit a dead end as the player was waiting for someone else to come in and offer him football at a higher level for next season.
It seems that Boulding is playing a dangerous game as clubs will look to bolster their strike forces as early as possible. Following Jamie Forresters departure and Louis Dodds return to leicester Lincoln only have four recognised forwards in the squad, Ben Wright, widemen Lennel John Lewis and Dany N'Guesson and youngster Gary King.
