Richard Butcher came through 55 minutes of a reserve team game against Grimsby this afternoon following on from his late showing against Rochdale on Saturday.
Butcher has been out of action for some time for the Imps, but the news of his latest action will no doubt be just the boost City need to maintain their push for an automatic promotion spot from division three.
Butch has 6 goals to his name in a stop start season, and prior to his injury had cemented himself in the City midfield alongside Peter Gain. In recent weeks Ben Sedgemore has deputised to good effect, and more recently Chelsea reserve star Craig Rocastle has added to the competition fo places. However City fans will be smiling from ear to ear knowing that Butcher is ready for action.
It will also be a great boost for the player that he will be in contention for a cameo at the very least against his home town side of Northampton on Easter Monday.
