It seems that former Rochdale and Darlington midfielder Clark Keltie is set for a move to Sincil Bank after spending a week on trial with City.
Reports had linked Keltie with a move to Darlington, but their manager Steve Staunton has now conceded defeat in his hunt for the midfielder.
The Newcastle-born midfielder had trained for the last month with Darlington and told manager Steve Staunton he would return to The Northern Echo Arena.
However Keltie then travelled to Lincoln, and Staunton admits he faces defeat in his hunt for the midfielder.
A frustrated Staunton explained: “Through his agent Clark agreed to sign last week. He had previously agreed to go to Lincoln for a couple of days trial and he had to honour that."
“I’m disappointed he has gone to Lincoln, especially as we had agreed terms. But there’s not much we can do about it now.”
18 months ago Keltie left Darlington to sign for Rochdale, but their current financial situation meant they had to release him. He linked up with Darlington with a view to a six month deal, something it appears also on the table at Lincoln.
He initially played 161 games for Darlo, scoring nine times before his moved to Rochdale. He made 31 appearances scoring just once at Spotland, also appearing on loan at Chester and Gateshead.
Typically one of Keltie's goals for Darlington came just before Christmas is 2007 when he netted from the spot at Sincil Bank in their 4-0 win over City.
