Cooper may incur the wrath of controversial chairman Imraan Ladak, but he told local media that he couldn't rule out a move to Lincoln City.
"I haven't heard anything so you carry on as normal," he stated.
"I'm enjoying being near the top of the league. I can't do anything about these things because they are out of my hands."
Of course things aren't out of his hands. If he chooses to apply then things may be very much in his hands, as with more games under his belt that fellow contender Gary Brabin, he may just be favourite to land the role.
"Nnever rule anything out in this game. You can't rule anything out and you can't rule anything in. I've always said I want to manage in the Football League. I would love it if that could be with Kettering."
Cooper added that his ambition is league management, something that Lincoln City could offer him. The facilities available would also seem like top flight standard compared to the ramshackle surroundings at Rockingham Road.
"Managing at that level has to be an ambition for everyone, doesn't it?"
Cooper may want to think long and hard about putting an application in to Mr Dorrian and Mr Wright as soon as possible. He has just 8 months left on his contract at Kettering, and although Ladak wants to create a situation between the clubs once again it doesn't seem he wants to back up his increasingly bizarre statements with a fat new contract for his manager.
