Lincoln City defender Paul Mayo admitted it was business as usual for the Red Imps in the FA Cup as the League Two side crashed to a first round defeat at Port Vale.
Defender speaks out on Cup defeat
John Schofield's side lost 2-1 at Vale Park and Mayo was disappointed not to be enjoying a rare successful run in the competition.
He told the Lincolnshire Echo: "We were very disappointed to go out at the first hurdle. I've never experienced a good FA Cup run with the club, but there was no disgrace in losing to a team as good as Port Vale.
"They were better - although we got a late goal and, maybe, could have nicked a replay. Whether it would have been deserved or not is open to question.
"We hung in there and continued to battle, but they just had too much for us at the end of the day.
"It's a big pitch at Vale Park and, when you play a team that keep the ball as well as they did, you do a lot of chasing to get it back."
