Danny Hone, or Homespun Hone, as we like to call him, will take his time before committing his future to the Imps. That is not disloyalty on the part of the lad rather a reflection on the last couple of years of his career. A Darlington loan looked set to end his time at his hometown club with the 6 foot 5 inch 21 year old deemed surplus to requirements.
Danny himself is a committed lad, who is not every mangers cup of tea. What many fail to realise was that the was thrown in at the deep end as a teenager and learned his trade at the sharp end in relegation haunted sides whilst just 19 and 20 and now 21.
Who can know the scars he bares from reactionary management techniques, rejection and relegation. It must have hurt, the Imps remember are in the blood with father and mentor Mark also a former player. Danny described relegation day as the worst of his professional life as he watched helpless on the sidelines..
Danny has until his contract runs out and will weigh up his options although his comments in today’s Echo are sobering to say the least
“There is a lot to mull over and I am not going to make a hasty decision. Obviously, every footballer aspires to play as high as they can and if Lincoln is as high as I can play at this particular time, then so be it. I am contracted to Lincoln until July so we will have to see what happens."
We understand you and your girlfriend need to plan your future Danny but cut you open and you have LCFC written through you. Your song if you stay should be
Lincoln born Lincoln Bred
Hone is an Imp until he’s dead.
