Grimsby Town have sacked manager Alan Buckley after gaining only two points from their first six games of the League Two season, one of which came at Sincil Bank just over a fortnight ago.
The Cod Heads are currently fifth bottom in League Two, one below City after being beaten 3-1 by Chester at home over the weekend.
"It is with regret that the board of directors have decided, due to a run of poor results, to relieve Alan Buckley of his duties," said a club statement.
"Alan has been a fine ambassador to the football club."
Buckley was in his third spell at the club and led them to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final last season before eventually losing 2-0 to MK Dons at Wembley.
"This difficult decision takes nothing away from his wonderful achievements which transpired in the club enjoying an extended stay in the Championship together with three wonderful trips to Wembley," the statement added.
The statement seems to suggest that despite his history at the club his third spell hasn't really reached the expectations of the Blundell Park board.
"We would like to express our sincere thanks to Alan and we are sure that everybody connected with the club will respect him for his magnificent achievements whilst manager."
