Green hasn't played since April after undergoing major surgery to correct a hip problem that has dogged his career. However after a long road to recovery it seems the talented full back is finally in contention for a place amongst the first team squad again.
Green signed in the transfer window of 2007 along with Leicester forward Dany N'Guessan. He came from the Aston Villa academy (as most of our first team squad seem to these days), and soon set about making the full back position his.
However he was dogged by niggling injuries, and eventually a specialist recommended an operation in order to give Green the chance to continue his career.
Whilst he's been out Peter Jackson has moved on, and Chris Sutton has yet to see Green in action. That was due to change Friday in the Hereford game, but with cancellation of that game left Green with an extra week to build up his match strength.
It's unlikely he'll drop straight into the first team, but the scrap between him and Cian Hughton for right back will give City the sort of competition for places that may just help save our season.
