The 47th minute strike from Hutchinson was his first goal in his first start which would have been enough to leave him smiling. However the fact it came at the age of 17 years and just 34 days means he is now officially the youngest goal scorer, beating a record that has stood for over 29 years.
The previous record holder was Craig Ramsay who scored against Newport County on February 16th 1980 at the age of 17 years and 150 days.
Hutchinson has impressed in his two appearances for the club this week, and Imps fans see a persistence and commitment in his game that appears to be offset by both pace and genuine ability. Imps strikers have been firing blanks all season, and there is a general feeling that a long term replacement may have taken his first steps towards becoming a very good player for City.
