Ian Pearce told local media that he was surprised that him and Chris Sutton landed the Imps job, but that they were loving every minute of it.
Along with coach Scott Lindsay the rookie management team are struggling with just two league wins to their name, and Pearce has admitted they didn't expect to land a job so quickly.
Pearce told local radio: "We were looking for opportunities and this one came along.
"We were lucky enough to go through the interview process. That was the main thing for us, to get that experience under our belts. However Chris did so well in the interview that the board offered us the job."
Pearce admits that the last few weeks have been a challenge, and that the difficulty gradient is steep.
"It's a steep learning curve but it's something I'm really enjoying and I look forward to coming to work every day."
"I won't lie, there's nothing like playing and you do miss it when you stop, but being on the training ground among the players means you don't miss it too much."
Their appointment came as a shock to Imps fans as well as to them. Gary Brabin and John Pemberton were expected to be front runners, with Sutton and Pearce not even mentioned in the local media. LCM however recieved word a week before the appointment that they'd been interviewed.
