Sutton's side have won just once away in the league since mid-October but the former Norwich, Blackburn and Celtic striker believes City can take heart from Bradford's recent performance at Spotland.
"It will be very tough. They are exceptionally fit and well organised but there is no reason that if we are organised ourselves and resilient and disciplined why we can't go there and take something out of the game," said Sutton.
"Bradford went there 10 days and got a 3-1 result and we have to believe we can do the same.
"We have nothing to lose and nobody expects us to take anything out of the game, but I expect us to go there and put on a performance."
