Imps Held In Dismal Cup Tie

Lincoln scrapped there way to a first round replay with Kettering town thanks to a late Dany N'Guessan tap in after a really poor cup tie.

The home side saw Alfie Potter's 20-yard shot go wide and Iyesden Christie also went close for the home side as Lincoln huffed and puffed throughout the afternoon.

The game wasn't made any easier by some inconsistent refereeing from a man whom the phrase 'Homer' seems to have been designed for. Despite this City should still have had enough class to claim the win, but couldn't make any real inroads at the Kettering goal.

The Poppies unsurprisngly took the lead with five minutes remaining when the impressive Exodus Geohaghan controlled the ball smartly and shrugged off Danny Hone before firing into the roof of the net.

However City managed an instant reply, Scott Kerr's ball and Ben Wrights run caught out the defence and N'Guessan nipped in to round the keeper and tap in.

The draw meant City were in the bag for round two, and came out early for an away tie at Notts County, should they overcome the Poppies.

LCM attended the game, and chose to do a review from Rockingham Road, which you can find elsewhere on this website.
