Imps Import From Eastern Market?

Last updated : 14 March 2002 By Jonathan Hall

Imps Chairman Rob Bradley and Managing Director Dick Chester, welcomed the Crown Prince, who is the Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia. Today's visit from the Far East followed on from an earlier visit involving representatives from the Malaysian FA.

The visit represents a significant breakthrough, as Malaysian prospects may be given the opportunity of playing in English football for the Imps next season. The Far East is a relatively untapped market, and so Bradley and his board are keen to take advantage of the up-and-coming Malaysian youth. A bit of foreign flair in the Imps' ranks next season gracing the Sincil Bank turf is very much a possibility.

Negotiations are now at an advanced stage, with the club hoping for a long and successful association with their friends from overseas.

In a previous visit from Malaysia, Senior Vice-President of the Malaysian FA and FIFA delegate, Dato' Raja Ahmad Zainuddin expressed a desire to establish a link between the M-League's TNB Kelantan, Malaysian football as a whole and Lincoln City FC.

Dick Chester, MD, has said in the past that possible player exchange had been discussed, while the broadening of commercial links was an important aspect.

Negotiations continue…
