The Imps fought back valiantly at Bournemouth after leaking two goals, and at 2-1 down and the second half to play they needed an impact player to come off the bench. Instead they had six youth players all hungry for a chance, but with no experience of the professional game.
Clark admitted that a months loan on a player perhaps wouldn't break the bank.
"Players don't always cost that much, it depends on what age of players you're looking at. We just need players that are going to add something. There's no point bringing in players for the sake of it."
It's rumoured Clark will be watching Derby reserves on Wednesday night with a view to bringing someone in.
"At this time we're a bit short and we need to bring in players who are going to affect things on the pitch, in both boxes or in between the boxes. It's no good bringing in squad players." added Clark, who is also due to sit through his job interview on Wednesday with Bob Dorrian and Steff Wright.
"We're got some names and we've made some telephone calls, it's just a case of agreeing and seeing where we want to go."
