City will be without Peter Gain and Ciaran Toner for the crucial clash with Darlo, and that leaves a selection headache for Keith Alexander with only Richard Butcher fit to play in midfield.

The problem could lead to an early recall for Michael Blackwood who hasn't featured for the Imps since August. However Blackwood has forged a reputation as a wide man and may feel restricted in the middle.

"I've played in midfield before and if the manager asked me to play there I would gladly do so," said Blackwood "I don't think I'm 100 per cent yet, but I would do a job if asked - I can't wait to get back into action."

Keith Alexander shared Blackwoods sentiment by admitting the player needs a few games.

"Michael Blackwood has been unlucky to have the reserve games postponed and he does need some match practice."
