Relegation will inevitably spell redundancies on and off the pitch however the cull will not be limited to just the players you feel even if we do stay up. Gillingham and a few others are also planning to get rid of their reserves which would save another £40k plus the salary of at least one of our coaches. No the time for the culture of waste and neglect is coming to an end, it has too.
If people realised just what was going out on non playing staff and unnecessary coaching and ancillaries they would go spare. For the fallacy of championship facilities has led to a legacy of highly paid CEO’s and a topheavy coaching budget that has meant less for the headline makers that would actually bring the real money through the door.
We have no idea who will go off the pitch but changes will have to come whether we stay up or not. Even if the budget was not going to shrink due to falling crowds and a massive loss, those on a two year or three year deal will be up for a built in rise of £200 a week.
Here are the expiry date but who else will need to be paid up?
