Lincoln City V's Grantham Town

Last updated : 20 March 2002 By Jonny Hall

Lincoln manager Alan Buckley is likely to field a slightly unfamiliar and experimental line-up against the Gingerbreads who currently sit in second spot in the Dr.Martens Eastern Division. Buckley is mindful of the fact that his side welcome Division Three table-toppers Plymouth Argyle to the Bank three days later, so is expected to chop and change to save one or two legs.

Imps players battling back from injury, such as Richard Logan, Jason Barnett and Kingsley Black are all strong candidates for a starting berth, while shut-out youngster Mark Camm also comes into contention. The ready and waiting Paul Mayo is a strong bet to replace Stuart Bimson at left back.

In a game such as this, experimentation is an appropriate action, and is exactly the right moment to once again grant the likes of Mayo and Camm another brief return to the first team scene. The young pair will be hoping to impress the gaffer and hope that he will perk up and take notice of their talents.

Whether or not the rejected youth players, Chris McConville, Daniel Bent and Grant Pinkney (to name a few) will figure in Buckley’s plans for the evening, remains to be seen. This week, the supposed “promising” trio were among five third-year scholars to be told of their fate. Is it their fate to prove their doubters (the club) wrong, if they were given a chance tomorrow night?

An inquiring eye will look over Buckley’s line-up once it is announced prior to the game tomorrow.
