The Imps are without a league win in almost two months, and despite improving over a period of games we were brought crashing back to earth after being comprehensively thrashed by Rochdale.
With the transfer windows coming up, Chris Sutton will be looking to strengthen his side, possibly with a few permanent signings. City have made several loan signings but are still third from bottom in League Two after nine games without victory.
Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "We can only play five loan players so we'll see who we can get in January."
"As much as I'd like to play pretty football, to be honest I don't think we're capable of it at the moment."
Of course from 2002-2007 pretty football was very much something seen at other grounds as Keith Alexanders direct style came to Sincil Bank. However LCM feels these years were the best in many as a City fan, and at LCM towers Keith is revered as a legend.
Sutton added: "It's going to be tough. We have to be resilient, effective and gritty and try to create chances another way."
With rumours that Danny Hone may leave in the transfer window coupled with Lennel John Lewis, Richard Butcher and Aaron Brown it seems we'll need to make a few permanent signings. The nature of those signing will define whether season 125 is as special as we'd all hoped.
If come may we are third from bottom, but Grimsby are second from bottom I'd say thats job done!
