Chesterfield have signed striker Martin Gritton from Macclesfield Town until June 2011 for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old joined the Silkmen from the Imps in the summer of 2007, scoring 16 times.
Gritton will be remembered primarily for two goals he scored for Lincoln, one in a three goal Imps win over Accrington early in John Schofields reign, and for scoring a dramatic last minute winner away at Torquay, when the Imps came back from 1-0 on 87 minutes to win 2-1. Gritton, an ex Torquay man, scored the winner.
He had been lined up to replace Jamie Ward at Saltergate but the Spireites decided to carry on with the deal despite Ward's Barnsley move falling through.
Gritton, who has had spells at Plymouth Argyle, and Grimsby Town may make his debut against Rochdale at home on Saturday.
Macclesfield have now been linked with David Graham who has recently been released by Lincoln.
