Pearce demands Imps improvements

Assistant boss Ian Pearce insists Lincoln must learn from the mistakes they made during the Carling Cup defeat at Leeds. A flurry of goals in the opening half an hour courtesy of Jonathan Howson, Luciano Becchio and Lloyd Sam put the Championship club firmly in control. Neil Kilkenny's penalty wrapped up the host`s victory midway through a tepid second half. The result condemned Lincoln to a first round defeat in the competition for the fifth successive season and left Pearce frustrated and rueing his side's poor start to the match. "You can't start a game like that. You can't give someone a two-goal head start - the game was over after 10 minutes; we are going to have to learn from this situation," said Pearce. "We can take positives out of the second half as we managed to take it to them a little bit more and got back into it, or at least created a few things. We looked a little bit more dangerous in the second half so we're going to have to take that out of the game."
