Speaking to local media this week, Bob Dorrian confirmed that 'one or two' of the potential candidates for the Imps job couldn't be spoken to because of 'contractual obligations', which could be construed as 'they currently have a club'. Of course it could be that he is referring to Simon Davey and his potential pay off from Barnsley.
Dorrian's teasing comment came in an interview with local radio, where he said:
"There's one or two candidates for contractual reasons that can't make interviews at an early stage,"
"As a result it may be another two weeks before we properly interview everyone for the job. After that within three weeks we hope to have a new manager."
There is also a hint that after the interviews it could take 'three weeks' before a new manager can come in, meaning at least a five week spell for caretaker manager Simon Clark.
Clark will be interviewed for the job today, hot on the heels of bookies favourite Brabin earlier in the week. Next week a total of six candidates are thought to be scheduled to appear at the Bank, with John Pemberton, Steve Staunton and Colin Calderwood thought to be amongst them. Simon Davey is also thought to have applied along with Gary Peters. That would leave Mark Cooper on a fans wish list, but with Imraan Ladak involved any easy transition from BSP hopeful to league manager would become bogged down with media comments.
Managers believed to have applied but not asked for interview include Steve Evans, Steve Thompson and Dean Glover.
