The news, announced on redimps.com, will no doubt be the highlight of the summer for most Imps fans, but Jacko's four month battle against throat cancer is at an end.
Jacko announced in a press conference in february that he had throat cancer, and his last game in charge of the Imps was a splendid 1-0 win against Wycombe. Since then Iffy Onuora and Grant Brown have managed the teams affairs while the man the fans have dubbed 'Lord Of The Imps' underwent treatment and recovered away from the spotlight with his family.
However Jacko has now been given the all clear and it is thought he will return to full time duties as soon as possible.
Jacko has quite a busy summer ahead of him. As well as publicly admitting interest in Mickey Boulding he has a new keeper to find, potentially three new defenders and even another midfielder and striker. As well as this current Imps backroom member Grant Brown requires some clarification on his future role after a spell working with the first team in Jacko's absence.
Jacko's statement to the press regarding the hunt for Mickey Boulding is a fresh approach from an Imps manager. Traditionally the management team remains tight lipped about possible targets, but Jacko has made no secret of his desire to bring Boulding to the club, playing on his personal connections. the move will no doubt spark fans into thinking the club are moving forward, fitting perfectly with Jacko's positive thinking policy.
Theres no doubt that once he's back at the Bank City have so much more than a football manager, they have a motivator, a personality and an expert on publicity and managing the press. LCM only hope the board move to get Jacko tied up to a longer contract, so that perhaps we can soon do a Hull or Scunthorpe and have our season in the
Championship.
