Peter Jackson Named Manager Of The Month

The Imps gaffer Peter Jackson has been awarded the League Two Manager of the Month award for February.

Jackson receives the award after an impressive run of form, which has seen his side climb to 16th in the table following five wins from six fixtures. The sixth game ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat at Rotherham after being reduced to 10 men for most of the second half. Wins over Macclesfield (twice), Rochdale, Accrington and Shrewsbury pulled City away from the relegation battle.

Jackson edged out strong competition, with Peterborough's Darren Ferguson, Hereford's Graham Turner and Stockport's Jim Gannon all enjoying an excellent February. Graham Turner in particular was unbeaten in five with Hereford riding high in third spot, but it was Jackson who most impressed the judging panel.

The Imps boss could not hide his delight at the recent run of form insisting it was all down to his players.

"Excellent, I am really pleased for the players and the supporters," he said.

"We have had a couple of bad months but this one has been tremendous and we have got to enjoy. I am really proud, and long may it continue.

"I have got a good squad of players, and we just needed a bit of confidence. It has been a real big team effort. "

Jackson is on the cusp of a spell out of the game after being diagnosed with throat cancer earlier this month. He will take charge of the game against Wycombe on Saturday which will doubtless be an emotional game. After that assistant Iffy Onuora will take the helm.
