With City already sitting pretty in the League Two promotion places, Schofield dealt shrewdly during the transfer window, signing Dany N'Guessan and Paul Green on two-and-a-half year deals, as well Nicky Eaden and striker Spencer Weir-Daley on loan from Nottingham Forest.
Shuffling his pack astutely, the Imps chief also saw Luke Foster, Gary Birch and Colin Cryan all leave Sincil Bank in January, with Martin Gritton (
With the squad now boasting real strength in depth, Schofield insists his endeavours in the transfer market are coming to fruition: “We've recruited two new lads who are going to give real longevity to the squad and future planning,” said Schofield, speaking exclusively to Lincoln City MAD today.
“And, obviously, we've fetched a very experienced player back in Nicky Eaden, who's played at the top-level and knows what it's all about.
Having seen both N'Guessan and Green come through Monday's reserve clash at Sincil Bank smelling of roses, Schofield purred at the performances of the two youngsters: “I think they both did well on Monday, and were both trying to impress perhaps a bit too hard at times – but that's a good thing!”
“At half-time I just said to them: ‘you're here for two-and-a-half years; you're not on trial, so just got out and play your normal game.'”
“I think they both did better in the second-half, and Dany linked up well with Leon Mettam, and Green bombed up well down the right-hand side.”
