The youth team friendly Tuesday against Newark resulted in a 4-2 win for the Imps, but perhaps more importantly it featured both first team captain Scott Kerr and longer term absentee Lenny John Lewis.
Scott picked up an injury on the pre season tour of Germany and it was feared he'd miss a portion of the season. However after a typically focused period of recovery there was talk of an outing against Barnet. However Jacko took heed and saved his player of the year from last season for another day. However a first half run out for Scott indicates he may feature at some point v Accrington on Saturday.
Lennell John Lewis has been out for longer, missing a portion of last season. Lewis burst onto the scene in a cup tie against Port Vale a couple of seasons ago, but since then has struggled to match his promise. Despite being favoured by Jacko he hasn't repaid the faith shown in him by the manager, although he is a strong first team squad member. His arrival will put pressure on Chris Fagan as well as the wide pair of Clarke and Brown. Lenny came through 75 minutes of football on Tuesday but may well take a bit more time before becoming a first team fixture again.
