26 Year old City defender Simon Weaver has today handed in a request to leave the club, becoming the second defender on the transfer list.

Ex Sheff Weds trainee Weaver has played 101 games for the Imps in two and a half seasons at the club. He signed from Doncaster Rovers in the summer of 2002 and instantly became part of the tightest defence in the football league. However following Jamie McCombe and Gareth McAuleys arrivals Weaver has slipped down the pecking order, even challenging the fans to chant his name more after the 2-3 reverse at home to Yeovil on the final day of last season.

This season however Weavers chances have been limited despite McCombe taking up a centre forwards role. His name will now be circulated amongst other football league clubs.

Weaver joins giant defender Ben Futcher on the transfer list. The latest rumours link Futcher with a £300,000 move to Crewe Alexandra, although there appears to be little substance to these whispers.
