Who Is Steven Watt

Giant ex Grimsby defender Steven Watt would make a great addition to the Imps BSP back four next season. The 6’2” centre half certainly has the pedigree with Chelsea, Barnsley, Swansea and a Scottish Cup final appearance last year Ross County on his CV. The big question is whether he wants to remain south of the border with Darlington or opt for a return Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

With no deals done we could yet be in with a chance. Steven is just the physical presence we need in both boxes and showed great composure against the larger than life strikers that the Blue Square will throw at us.  Though susceptible to pace, he has good positioning and a clean, well timed tackle to go with a resilient and reliable style of play.  He is commanding at set pieces and got a couple of goals for the Mariners last season.

Things were going well until December when he tore knee ligaments against Kidderminster that kept him out for 9 weeks.  At just 26 Steve could be just what the doctor ordered if he can stay free of injury.
