Club To Get New Stand

Last updated : 24 March 2008 By Richard Small
The St Andrews Stand was opened officially in 1988 just after the GMVC title win in a friendly against Forest, and ever since has been the nerve centre at the Club, containing the club offices, shops, executive lounge and more. However with the stand approaching its 20th year it does appear out of character with the rest of our modern ground.

Often referrred to as 'The Lego Brick' or the 'Ugly Stand' it now appears to be reaching the end of its life. The LCST newsletter that appeared around Centre Spot last week had a passage referring that area of the gound as one that could be redeveloped and utilised as a community 'hub', so as well as the stand and offices provisions could be made for a dentist perhaps or a doctors surgery as well. The idea is surely a sound one, but quite how it would be achieved within the current budget would be a question yet to be answered.

Chairman Steff Wright hasn't publicly discussed the plans, and their is no solid proof that they are currently on the table. However it would seem a sound proposal and with the 'Clubs The Hub' project running as well as it currently does it would seem a logical progression.
