Director Bob Dorrian could confirm to local media that a new striker was set to join the Imps on loan, but could do little more than that. He suggested that a new face might be in place as early as the weekend for the visit of Cheltenham Town.
The Imps have looked desperately short of fire power recently, with leading scorer Rene Howe notching just five, two of which have been from the penalty spot.
However this area of concern looks like finally being addressed by the management. Internet rumour has suggested a certain veteran of the game may be in line for a move to City, and could have moved earlier had he not scored a couple of times for his current club.
The Imps currently have seven loan players in the squad, although Eric Lichaj is suspended and unlikely to feature for the Imps again. Nathan Baker, Joe Heath, Adam Watts, Sergio Torres, Rene Howe and Anthony Pulis make up the final six players.
However league rules state that you cannot field anymore than five loan players at any one time. So who will miss out?
Torres is unlikely to be left out, Howe is also unlikely to miss out and they'll be joined by Pulis in the side. Therefore it leaves Watts, Baker and Lichaj to battle it out for the remaining spot in the side.
