Much has been made of Chris Sutton's links with Fulham, Celtic and Villa and it seems now is the time to act on those contacts more than ever.
City are involved in a relegation scrap and no mistake, and perhaps a touch of Premiership class is required to help spark the revival. However LCM are not talking about a handful of academy players, we are talking six foot plus strikers.
Step forward David Elm of Fulham, all six foot three inches of David Elm. He's currently plying his trade in Fulham reserves hoping for an opportunity to shine. With Adam Watts looking likely to extend his stay, maybe a team mate at the other end of the field can have the same influence?
Elm signed for Fulham for £500,000 from Norweigan side Kalmar FF after hitting 12 goals in 66 appearances. Prior to that he'd managed 24 in 68 for Falkenbergs. He slipped into Fulham on dealine day in September, but so far has struggled to get near the first team squad.
Hodgson is keen on Elm gaining some first team experience as at 26 years old he soon needs to be threatening the first team. A move this far down the league may look unlikely, but perhaps Hodgson might want to toughen his protege up a little, and where better than a relegation ding dong with Grimsby Town to do that?
LCM will keep you abrest of all the latest developments.
