Chris Sutton has been scouring the country for an answer to our lack of goals, and no doubt given the restrictive budget he'll need to call in a favour or two. Perhaps given his sterling servie to Celtic over the years, they might be willing to help him.
He's squad number 55, and whilst on loan at Greenock Morton he smashed 11 goals in 36 appearances, followed by a slightly less impressive 3 in 14 for Hamilton. However McGowan is still highly rated at Parkhead, and maybe a spell south of the border could be what he needs.
Greenock tried to sign the player on a permanent deal, but Cletic rejected the offer as they see McGowan as one for the future. It is thought that Celtic may want the striker to link up with Sutton who served them so well.
At 5'7 he probably won't be the big bustling centre forward we require, but at 22 he'll bring the youthful exhuberrance expected of a man with a point to prove. He's made a solitary appearance for Celtic in the league, a 5-0 mauling of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Since then he's netted in a friendly and managed a couple of substitute appearances in europe.
However if Super Sutton can pull some strings, the pacy forward could be the man to spark an Imps revival in 2010.
