Elding had been linked with a move back to City, albeit by the usual rumour mill and website tomfoolery. However he's managed to go and ruin all that now by signing for rivals Kettering Town.
The Kettering Town rivalry goes back to last years FA Cup tie in which the Imps were defeated. However rather than the defeat, which was just and deserved, the attitudes shown by key figures at Kettering hardly endeared them to City fans.
Elding on the other hand did endear himself to Imps fans. Arriving alongside Geoff Horsfield in time for a 2-2 draw with eventual champions Brentford last season, Elding quickly established himself as a pacy player willing to put in a bit of effort off the ball. Having suffered Kevin Gall for six months, he seemed like a breath of fresh air.
However the goals stopped and he returned to Crewe looking to lift his career out of the lull. Unfortunately for him this week he has been forced to drop further down the pyramid to Kettering Town, making a scoring debut in the Cherries 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Wrexham.
In moving to Kettering now Elding has possibly scuppered his chances of a a second spell at City. Perhaps another spell at Boston is heading his way very soon?
