Dunkirk born former York City defender Djoumin Sangare is currently training with the Imps after things at Moroccan side Casablanca failed to work out. Although details are sketchy the 27-year French defender only left York on 22 December yet returned to the UK in the new year after the Humphrey Bogarte Club's manager was sacked. The new man had other plans and with 'Jimmy still awaiting registration he and the club instead cut a deal that included a one way plane ticket home
Gary Mills had failed to keep him despite being a keen admirer with the lad citing faith reasons for leaving and the desire to play in a Muslim country. This all seems to have changed, their loss could be our gain with our community club sure to accomodate his faith requirements.
Signed from Salisbury by former manager Martin Foyle ‘Jimmy’ was a popular figure with York fans scoring 4 goals in 40 appearances. The sixfooter has physical presence and poses a aerial threat at both ends of the pitch. This season Sangare also grabbed a goal in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Darlington.
