An Interview with an Evertonian - Part Two

Are Everton supporters actually aware that there is still a link with
Lincoln?

Basically, I think the coverage of the Lincoln connection is pretty crap to
be honest. I don't think many people are aware of it and I certainly
wouldn't be if I hadn't been in contact with yourself.

Has the connection received any coverage whatsoever in the press on
Merseyside?

When the connection was first established, there was the odd bit of media
coverage, but since then, it has been on the whole pretty quiet. I buy the
match programmes, "The Evertonian", some fanzines, and the local papers, and
I can't say the coverage has been anything to shout about.

Do you think David Moyes will allow any of his younger players the chance to
find experience with the Imps? i.e. on long term loan deals.

With regards to the younger players, at the moment, I don't think any would
want to part Everton, even if just for experience. I think this because we
have a great new manager who has given all the young players hope, and most
of them want to prove themselves with him and believe they have a chance.
The friendlies played so far also prove this to be true.

I'll give you a prime example; a friend of mine, Sean O'Hanlon, has been
playing for the reserves for the past two seasons. He is a tremendous player
and has captained England school-boys in the past. In my opinion, and many
others, he deserved his first team chance long ago but Walter (Smith) always
preferred the more experienced. Sean, last season, was beginning to wonder
if the time had come to move on. However, Moyes arrived, and has given him
real self-belief that he will make it at some point this season. He took him
along with some of the other younger players to the training camp in
Austria.

Seeing Sean will give other youngsters the belief that they will make it
too. For this reason, I can't see any of them wanting to go out on loan
anywhere. Moyes has made it clear that the youth is the most important thing
to him! (and, we have FA money!!)

To what extent, were you, and other Evertonians aware of the "Save The Imps"
campaign/the plight of the Imps? Did any supporters buy a seat as part of
the "Name a Seat" campaign?

"Save The Imps" campaign, what's that?" would be the answer to most people
round here if I were to ask them about it! There has been no coverage and I
only knew about it because I saw something briefly on Sky Sports News. I did
hear something about buying a seat, but nothing major, just a small print
article. The coverage is very poor in my opinion and needs to be much
better.

Have Everton helped Lincoln City in any other ways, do you know?

You tell me! Most people wouldn't know we even had a connection! That's how
poor it is!

Planet Imp scours the Everton message boards on the Internet in search of a
response, here's a few snippets..

"Can't see why Everton haven't done more to be honest!"

"Yes and I'm still confused about us not having a friendly at Sincil Bank,
surely Lincoln are a cash strapped club and we could fill their stadium thus
providing much needed funds"

"Yeah why not! It's good for our young players to be linked with Lincoln."
