Jacko managed to field three trialists including ex Huddersfield man McAliskey, former Man Utd striker Roman Calliste and ex Crystal Palace defender Moses Swaibu.
Former Huddersfield man McAliskey also helped create the first of Sam Mullarkey's two goals inside the opening 20 minutes.
Vale managed to pull one back after some slack defending normally reserved for the first team.
But McAliskey struck again after 63 minutes after the keeper managed to spill a shot right in front of him.
McAliskey was one of three trialists named in the City starting line-up. He was joined by another forward, Ramon Calliste, and defender Moses Swaibu, who made a favourable impression in the heart of defence.
Former Liverpool trainee Calliste has been training with the Imps this week. The 23-year-old joined Scunthorpe United in 2006, but failed to make a competitive appearance for the Iron after suffering a career-threatening ankle injury in a pre-season game at Brigg.
McAliskey is well known to Peter Jackson having played under the City boss at Huddersfield. After his release by the Terriers in 2007, the 24-year-old turned out 16 times for Mansfield last season.
Centre-back Swaibu was released by Crystal Palace last season and has played 19 times for Blue Square South outfit Bromley this term.
