Alan Buckley's improving Lincoln City earned themselves another vital survival point at Vetch Field today in a pulsating encounter with Swansea City. The Jacks, on the back of an improved spell were looking to take maximum points after an abatement in the weather allowed the game to go ahead.
Swansea in all fairness had the lion's share of the chances, but a combination of bad luck and an in-form Alan Marriott contrived to deny the Swans goal hungry forwards the goal their play at times deserved. City though, far from being under the cosh thrust and poked at the Swansea defence, with Dave Cameron guilty of missing what appeared to be a gilt-edged chance to put the Imps 1-0 ahead in the first half, and Lee Thorpe's crazy header that bounced along the goal line, when it seemed easier to score. Swansea provided their fans with chances in abandon seeking the cutting edge, but for them it was not to be.
However, given their teams long period stuck in the doldrums at the bottom of the Third Division, and their 3-0 defeat at Sincil Bank, a point may seem not such a bad thing.
