Alan Buckley's rollicking of the Imps players after the shocking performance at The Shay on Saturday must have had the desired effect. City, cheered by the return of Stuart Bimson and Jason Barnett to the back four played out a game which did much to lift the flagging spirits of the faithful who despaired at the 3-0 drubbing handed to them by Halifax Town.
It was Ben Sedgemore who broke the deadlock in the second half with a close range strike after good approach play. His impromptu "Dambusters" display warmed the souls of the paltry 1'900 City Fans who had braved the cold to watch them.
Lee Thorpe secured the 3 points in the second half with a magnificent turn and 25 yard run before despatching a fierce low shot into the far left hand side of Orient keeper's net.
All round it was a more competent display from City which saw them effectively close down and limit Orient to a few half-chances.
