The Chairboys looked to be heading to their first defeat of the season until a dreadful error from Lincoln keeper Alan Marriott allowed them to draw level.
Wycombe kept battling and snatched a winner two minutes into stoppage time giving them the three points they needed to go to the top of League Two.
Wycombe got off to a good start with Nathan Tyson creating a chance after just six minutes but his shot flew narrowly over.
Lincoln quickly switched things around at the back and Tyson was well controlled with little opportunity to add to his 11-goal tally for the season. Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock again watched League Two's leading scorer and is likely to consider another bid from the striker after his earlier offers were turned down.
Lincoln looked comfortable and were unlucky in the 23rd minute when Nat Brown climbed above the Wycombe defence to meet a Scott Kerr free-kick over the bar.
Ten minutes later Wycombe were almost caught out again when Dean Keates swung in a free-kick from the right but Gareth McAuley failed to hit the target with his header from six yards.
Wycombe keeper Frank Talia took a knock from a corner minutes before the break but continued after receiving six stitches at half time.
Lincoln opened up the Wycombe defence in the 52nd minute to take the lead. Derek Asamoah beat two defenders and found a cross from which Roger Johnson failed to clear leaving City's Marvin Robinson in the clear to score from close in.
Six minutes later Kerr almost doubled Lincoln's lead with a powerful shot from 25 yards which was tipped over by Talia.
Wycombe levelled things up in the 68th minute when Stefan Oakes sent over a free-kick and Michael Williamson headed towards goal. Marriott appeared to have an easy save to make but, for some reason, simply watched the ball drop into the net without making any effort to save.
The goal stunned Lincoln and rejuvenated Wycombe, who were looking for a winner.
They got it in the 2nd minute of stoppage time when Tyson sent over a cross from the left. Marriott appeared to have collected the ball but dropped it at the feet of Williamson who tapped it into the net.
