Lincoln moved into the Division Three play-off places after strolling to a 2-1 victory over a disappointing Bury team.
City never looked back after leading goalscorer Gary Fletcher fired home the opening goal in the fourth minute.
Lincoln could have clinched the game well before half time but were denied by some excellent saves from Bury keeper Glyn Garner.
Garner did well to keep out a 17th minute shot from Francis Green and seconds later kept out another effort from Mark Bailey.
Fletcher then put Marcus Richardson in the clear but the on-loan striker's shot was blocked by the body of Bury defender Colin Woodthorpe.
Lincoln doubled their lead in the 28th minute when a corner from Paul Mayo deflected off Ben Futcher into the path of Green who netted with a diving header.
When Bury tried to hit back Glenn Whelan found Jonathan Daly but the striker hesitated and Lincoln skipper Paul Morgan got across to block his shot.
On the stroke of half time George Clegg found Terry Dunfield who turned his man before shooting inches wide.
Lincoln defender Mark Bailey went close in the 56th minute with a long range free-kick which flashed inches wide of Garner's right hand post.
Bury became more adventurous in the final 30 minutes and began to cause problems for the home defence.
Lee Unsworth picked out Gareth Seddon but the striker put his header wide. Then Clegg forced his way through the middle, but his low shot was kept out by Lincoln keeper Alan Marriott.
Then Woodthorpe put the ball into the box finding Seddon but the striker's shot was blocked by Futcher.
Bury were unlucky again when a long-range effort from Whelan deflected off Simon Weaver and flew inches wide.
But the Shakers gained some consolation in stoppage time when substitute Chris Porter forced the ball home from close range after Lincoln failed to clear a corner.
