Macclesfield Town moved into third spot in League Two courtesy of late strikes from giant centre-forward Jon Parkin.
Having earlier missed a golden opportunity to give the Cheshire side the lead he made amends in typically predatory fashion.
The opener came in the 81st minute when Danny Whitaker mishit a volley from the edge of the box.
Michael Welsh nodded on the ball for Parkin to pounce with a low left-foot shot under Alan Marriott from the angle of the six-yard box.
Better was to follow for the Silkmen as sub Matthew Tipton placed the ball in Parkin's path in the 88th minute and the big man blasted home the 20-yard drive off the underside of the cross bar.
Lincoln however produced a late rally when centre- half Jamie McCombe nodded home a Kevin Sandwith corner in injury time.
Earlier, both sides had wasted chances.
Lincoln looked most dangerous in the early stages with Ben Futcher testing Steve Wilson with a snap shot half-volley that was well saved at the near post.
Parkin should then have converted a Graham Potter cross, but nodded wide from three yards.
Wilson was again alert to palm wide a Peter Gain shot in the 30th minute and had to be in top form to smother a Marcus Richardson shot in the 70th minute.
Macc produced some superb passing football in the final stages and before they scored, Whitaker was left holding his head in his hands as he blasted over the bar from ten yards.
