Despite recieving coverage on Sky Sports News, and the possibility of Soccer AM paying Sincil Bank a visit to see for themselves the looks on away teams faces as they emerge to Benny Hill, we'll no longer be hearing the theme tune at Sincil Bank.
After a series of complaints made to the club, it has been decided that the theme can no longer be played. Many fans thought it 'disrespectful' to away teams and thought it could provoke trouble with away fans.
On the other hand many fans thought it encapsulated the fun that is lacking from football these days and felt it's tongue in cheek humour brought a much needed smile to fans faces.
One fan in favour of it said 'It seems that once again the pc brigade has won over the fun factor. There was no harm at all in playing the tune, and yet the whinging few have ruined it for everyone else. The sad thing is those same people who complained about this will soon find themselves something else to complain about'.
Another fan in The Stacey West on Saturday said 'They stop the playing of an innocent tune, and yet during half time a group of morons in the Stacey West sung 'Get your t*ts out for the lads' at my girlfriend whilst I was holding her hand. Did any stewards do anything at this blatant sexual harrasment? No. Its easy to do something about one man playing a record, but those who are meant to ensure that the Sincil Bank experience is a family one did nothing for me and my girlfriend. If they'd sung a racist chant they'd be thrown out, if political correctness runs to not playing a certain tune, why should females still be subjected to the sort of moronic abuse?'
However there are also several supporters who feel the tune wasn't entirely appropriate. 'The first time or two it was funny, but when we are 3-0 down at half time it didn't carry the same weight. Like every 'fad' it has run its course'.
No matter what your view on the subject theres little doubt that controversial DJ Casey will have something else under his woolen hat that he'll be hitting us with very shortly.
