Macclesfield Town have dispensed with the services of Ian Brightwell and Asa Hartford and appointed ex Imp and Sincil Bank legend Keith Alexander as the club's new manager.
Brightwell and Hartford were only appointed in the summer following Paul Ince's move to MK Dons but the Silkmen have struggled of late for any kind of form. Tuesday night's defeat to Peterborough was the club's fifth consecutive home loss and relegation form has brought about the change in personel.
Alexander brings with him to Moss Road a wealth of experience, having previously managed Peterborough and been a director of football at Bury. His most succesful spell was a second stint at Sincil Bank where he guided City to two play off finals and two semi finals in four years.
Chairman Mike Rance believes the club's relegation form dictated that a change needed to be made.
He told the club's official website: "It is no secret that results of late haven't been what we have wanted.
"With other sides picking up points around us in the table we felt a change was needed and in doing so now we wanted to give the new man as much time as possible to make an impact.
"Ian was offered the opportunity to work with Keith as his number two but declined the new role, a decision we understand.
"We would of course like to thank Ian and Asa for their hard work and wish them both well in the future."
Alexander's first match will be at home to Notts County in League Two on Saturday.
Lincoln City Mad wish Keith every success as Macclesfield manager, and will miss his commentary on Radio Lincolnshire. His tough, no nonsense approach will soon endear him to the thousand odd Moss Rose faithful.
