Gazza celebration jibe at City tactics

Gazza - Should perhaps get his own camp in order before throwing stones at others
Paul Gascoinge has amazed fans the length and breadth of the country during his career, swerving from the superbly sublime to the mentally moronic, but his latest stunt is probably the first aimed at The Imps.

Following Jason Lee's headed equaliser in the thrilling 2-2 draw with Boston Gazza launched into a bizarre drop kick celebration that had the home fans scratching their heads. It was later revealed that Gazza aimed his celebrations at City after observing 'they play most of the game with the ball in the air'.

The superstars comments have enraged City fans who welcomed him to Sincil Bank with open arms. He recieved an ovation when he came on as a late substitute, with 80% of City fans rising to their feet in appreciation of seeing an all time legend such as Gascoinge on the Sincil Bank turf.

The jibe comes at a time when City should really be looking to shed the long ball tag that has dogged them since John Becks reign. There was no evidence that City were any more direct than a disapointing Boston side, and were certainly less physical than their county neighbours. Both Jason Lee and Lee Beevers were lucky to remain on the pitch after excessive use of their elbows left two City players prone on the turf.

Indeed it certainly seems that teams are now jumping on the long ball bandwagon rather than judging for themselves. The one exception to the rule is England U-21 and Hull City boss Peter Taylor who has repeatedly praised City for their spirit and determination. Perhaps if Gazza is to enjoy a long and fruitful coaching career he would do well to concerntrate on other teams strengths rather than picking at unobvious faults.
