Imps draw Alex in Carling Cup

Crewe will visit City at the end of August coming straight from League Championship action to Sincil Bank. Dario Gradis side are something of an enigma having flirted all their existence with the lower leagues only to rise substantially above thier stations in recent years.
Crewe were the unfortunate victims in Citys biggest ever win, an 11-1 thrashing in the 50's. Crewe also fell foul of the Imps in the 1987 FA Cup 1st Round whilst City were a conference side. That day Crewe sported John Pemberton and a youthful David Platt.
