Imps draw first blood in Pilgrims battle

The Imps drew first blood in the first of three fixtures against Boston United in a week with a 2-0 win at Ashby Avenue.

Young striker Adam Kerley and pacey forward Franny Green netted the two goals that condemed the Pilgrims second string to defeat. Boston fielded a strong side with Lee Thompson, Greg Strong, Martin Carruthers and Danny Thomas all appeared for the visitors. City included West Ham loanee Greg Pearson, Northern Ireland international Ciaran Toner and Dean West.

The win gives Lincoln a head start in their week long war with Boston. The Pilgrims visit in League Two action on Saturday and follow with another visit to Sincil Bank in the County Cup Semi Final next Tuesday. A large portion of the players who appeared today will possibly feature again next Tuesday in what will be a glorified reserve match.

Boston confirmed that Paul Gascoinge should feature on Saturday, but will be unlikely to get a game the following Tuesday.
